A sun candle is a rare atmospheric optical phenomenon where a vertical beam of light appears to rise from the sun. It forms when sunlight reflects off ice crystals in the atmosphere, creating a glowing pillar-like effect. Similar to sun pillars, it’s most commonly seen during sunrise or sunset, when the sun sits low on the horizon.
